Deuteromycota /Deu·tero·my·co·ta/ (-mi-ko´tah) the Fungi Imperfecti; a large heterogeneous group of fungi, ordinarily treated as a division, whose sexual stage does not exist or has not yet been discovered; subclassification is in form-classes, form-orders, etc., until their sexual stage is identified. Deuteromycota the phylum of fungi known as Fungi Imperfecti, containing Cryptococcus, Candida and some Microsporum and Trichophyton spp. |
