USP4

A gene on chromosome 3p21.3 that encodes an enzyme which deubiquitinates target proteins (e.g., ADORA2A, PDPK1 and TRIM21), increasing the amount of functional receptors at the cell surface. USP4 plays a role in regulating quality control in the endoplasmic reticulum; it interacts with RB1, RBL1 and RBL2 and is expressed in the hippocampus.

Molecular pathology
USP4 is overexpressed in small cell carcinomas and adenocarcinomas of the lung.
