Part 2 addresses nerve injuries, including median, ulnar, and radial nerve compression; thoracic outlet syndrome; brachial plexus injuries; nerve repair; tendon transfers for median, ulnar, and radial nerve palsies; complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS); sensibility testing; and desensitization and reeducation. Observed muscular tension should be the nonverbal message that the desensitization process has gone too far too fast. Concerning children and adolescent anxiety, fear, and phobias, Kazdin (2003, 2004) contended there is sufficient evidence to support systematic desensitization, modeling, reinforced practice, and cognitive behavior therapy. |
