Dermatophagoides

/Der·ma·toph·a·goi·des/ (der″mah-tof″ah-goi´dēs) a genus of sarcoptiform mites, usually found on the skin of chickens. D. pteronys´simus is the house dust mite, an antigenic species that produces allergic asthma in atopic persons.

Dermatophagoides

[-fagoi′dēz]
Etymology: Gk, derma + phagein, to eat, eidos, form
a genus of household dust mite responsible for allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Protection against the microscopically small mite includes minimizing dust in the home, especially in the bedroom; encasing pillows and mattresses in allergen-proof coverings; controlling temperature; and keeping humidity below 70%. The mites thrive on skin scales, hair, pet foods, carpets, and bedding, in addition to ordinary house dust.

Dermatophagoides

a genus of mites of the family Epidermoptidae. Includes Dermatophagoides farinae, D. pteronyssinus (housedust mites).

Testing was carried out for groups of food allergens (cow's milk, eggs, flour, meat I and II, fruit I, II and III, vegetables I and II) and for groups of aeroallergens (grass pollen, weed pollen, tree pollen, house dust, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, animal hair-fur, feathers, vegetable fibers, fabrics, fungi, bacteria) using dialyzed extracts of allergens in a solution of a mixture of 50% glycerol solution in buffered saline solution (allergens preparations for SPT; Institute of Immunology, Zagreb, Croatia).

The contract is the delivery: Point allergy test kits containing the following allergens: - positive control - negative control - Common Hazel, - Silver birch, - Artemisia vulgaris, - Rye - Dog, - cat, - Dermatophagoides farinae - Dermatophagoides pteronyssius - Alder - mixtures of grasses.
The extracts of allergens used were the following: house dust mite group: Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, Dermatophagoides farinae; animal group: cat, dog; mold group: Alternaria, Cladosporium; wild grass pollen group: weed mix, mugwort, lambs quarter, nettle, English plantain; grass pollen group: meadow grass, grass mix (Stallergenes 689-coded mixture of 12 grass pollens), cereal mix (oat, wheat, barley, corn); tree pollens: cypress, olive, ash, pine; and foods: milk, egg, wheat, peanut, hazelnut, and fish.

Objective: To investigate the sensitivity of allergic asthma (AA) patients to house dust mites (HDM) by conducting skin tests, measuring total and specific IgE antibodies to Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and D.
Allergic asthma was diagnosed by the following criteria: Positive skin prick test result (to rye pollen, birch pollen, grass pollen, cat, or Dermatophagoides pteronissinus/farinae) and specific IgE.
