tranexamic acid /tran·ex·am·ic ac·id/ (tran″ek-sam´ik) an antifibrinolytic that competitively inhibits activation of plasminogen; used as a hemostatic in the prophylaxis and treatment of severe hemorrhage associated with excessive fibrinolysis.
tran·ex·am·ic acid (trnk-smk)
n.
A competitive inhibitor of plasminogen activation and of plasmin. It is used in hemophilia to reduce or to prevent the occurence of hemorrhage.

tranexamic acid
[tran′ek-sam′ik]
an agent that combats fibrinolysis by competitively inhibiting activation of plasminogen. It is used in prophylaxis and treatment of hemorrhage associated with excessive fibrinolysis, such as that after oral surgery in patients with hemophilia. It is administered orally or intravenously.

tranexamic acid
an antifibrinolytic agent, used orally or intravenously to control hemorrhage. Called also Vasolamin.
