tranexamic acid /tran·ex·am·ic ac·id/ (tran?ek-sam´ik) an antifibrinolytic that competitively inhibits activation of plasminogen; used as a hemostatic in the prophylaxis and treatment of severe hemorrhage associated with excessive fibrinolysis.
tran·ex·am·ic acid (trnk-smk)

A competitive inhibitor of plasminogen activation and of plasmin. It is used in hemophilia to reduce or to prevent the occurence of hemorrhage.
tranexamic acid
an antifibrinolytic agent, used orally or intravenously to control hemorrhage. Called also Vasolamin.
