When Lyon Arboretum in Honolulu failed to get clones of the last remaining wild Cyanea pinnatifida to flower, they gave some of the plants to Robinson. For example, only one individual plant of Cyanea kuhihewa, a gray stem topped by a tuff of straplike leaves, remains in the wild. It's home to 10 endangered plants species, including the native Hawaiian palm tree and the last two cyanea shrubs in existence. |
