Congenital laryngeal stridor Crowing may be the first sign of congenital epiglottic and superglottic deformity or flabbiness–laryngomalacia and tracheomalacia with collapse and partial inspiratory airway obstruction, a condition more common in ♂; during the paroxysms, the children are hoarse, aphonic, dyspneic, have inspiratory muscle retractions and if prolonged, fail to thrive
