cross (kros) 1. a cross-shaped figure or structure. 2. any organism produced by crossbreeding; a method of crossbreeding. cross Etymology: L, crux 1 (in genetics) a mating between individuals with different phenotypes. Kinds of crosses include dihybrid cross, monohybrid cross, polyhybrid cross, and trihybrid cross. 2 any individual, organism, or strain produced from such a mating. cross 1. a cross-shaped figure or structure. 2. any organism produced by mating genetically distinct individuals. After several months of trying to settle a dispute over use of the Red Cross symbol, J&J filed suit in U. It began in 1936 as Hospital Service Corporation with the Blue Cross symbol officially adopted in 1939. This time the issue was raised by the ACLU after the city of Redlands recently bowed to its threatened lawsuit over a similar cross symbol. |
