Other plague patients were treated with either doxycycline for adults (200 mg/d for 10 days) or cotrimoxazole for children (40 mg/kg/d for 10 days).
The use of cotrimoxazole in comparison to other drugs has demonstrated that cotrimoxazole is as effective or more effective than any other regime in the treatment of PCP (Hughes et a11993, Safrin et a11996, Sattler 1994, Sattler et al 1988).
