Golgi tendon organ
n.
A proprioceptive sensory nerve ending embedded among the fibers of a tendon, often near the musculotendinous junction. Also called neurotendinous spindle.

Golgi tendon organ
any of the mechanoreceptors arranged in series with muscle in the tendons of mammalian muscles, being the receptors for stimuli responsible for the lengthening reaction.
