If a corpus luteum is present, she has already ovulated and may be pregnant. It is comprised of recruitment, selection, and growth of ovarian follicles, ovulation, transformation of the ruptured follicular tissue into a functional corpus luteum, and finally the death of the corpus luteum and the subsequent menses. |
