An independent statutory NHS body (UK) meant to represent the interests and views of patients, carers and the public. Community Health Councils were phased out and replaced by Patient Advisory and Liaison Services.
Chairman Rosemarie Tonkinson said the extension could have been handled better but it was clear the government had taken on board concerns about a gap between community health councils going and successor bodies, patient forums, being set up.
Mrs Pauline Davis, chairwoman of the community health council, told a packed meeting at Kidderminster Town Hall that, although the health authority had offered a compromise, it was not a great deal different to before.
Referring to the pounds 200 million proposal to rebuild the Queen Elizabeth and Selly Oak Hospitals, Mr Stoten said: "The degree of opposition in the south of the city from the community health council, leading politicians such as Lord Howell, from some of the media and trade unions is such that getting acceptance of the capital proposal will be very difficult indeed.
If you prefer not to raise concerns or complaints directly with the staff involved, all staff should know who is responsible for complaint handling in their organisation and be able to signpost to the appropriate person or to the Complaints Advocacy Service run by the local Community Health Council.
