To the Editor: We were surprised and disappointed by the brevity of your article commemorating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Communicable Disease Center (CDC) (1). Founded in 1912, the firm has completed numerous high-profile projects, including the Crescent Hotel in Dallas, Texas, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, California, the Saturn Launch Complex #34 in Cape Canaveral, Florida, and the National Communicable Disease Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Indeed, in 1946 the Public Health Service established the Communicable Disease Center to work not only on malaria but on typhus and other infectious diseases. |
