We prospectively investigated each patient with a surveillance protocol that assembled information about life history, previous medical history, clinical history, laboratory data, and results of molecular genetic and pathologic analyses. A62-year-old woman presented with a clinical history of a slowly growing, painless mass in the right parotid gland area. Whether knowledge of clinical history should be available to the person interpreting the index test depends on whether the information would be available in the clinical setting. |
