clinical research center, an organization, often associated with a medical school or a teaching hospital, that studies, analyzes, correlates, and describes medical cases. Such centers usually have extensive laboratory facilities and specialized staffs of physicians and medical technicians. Clinical research centers often offer free or very inexpensive medical care for patients participating in various research programs and often produce significant new medical information distributed through articles, journals, reports, seminars, and lectures.
