cilastatin

cilastatin /ci·la·stat·in/ a dipeptidase inhibitor used with imipenem to decrease the metabolism of imipenem in the kidneys and increase its concentration in the urine; administered as the sodium salt.
cilastatin
an inhibitor of dehydropeptidase I, an enzyme found in renal tubules. Used in association with the antibiotic, imipenem, to prevent its inactivation.
