[krō′məther′əpē]
a system of treating disease with colored lights chosen from specific regions of the spectrum.

Colour Therapy
(1) Any form of sensory ‘therapy’ in which a patient is exposed to specific colours in the environment, in clothing, or lighting; the efficacy of colour therapy is uncertain; it is integral to ayurvedic medicine, but is peripheral to mainstream medicine
(2) Any pseudotherapy in which a patient is exposed to coloured light, environment, clothing, or food, as a vehicle for treating organic—i.e., ‘real’ disease

the use of light of specific colors to treat health problems.

chromotherapy (krōˈ·m·theˑ·r·pē),
n in Ayurveda and other systems, the use of colors to promote harmony and healing based on the belief that certain colors are infused with healing energies (e.g., red is energizing; blue is calming). Also called
color therapy.
