1. a glycosaminoglycan that predominates in connective tissue, particularly cartilage, bone, and blood vessels, and in the cornea.
2. a preparation of chondroitin sulfate from bovine tracheal cartilage, administered orally for the treatment of osteoarthritis and joint pain.

A component of proteoglycan, thought by some to relieve osteoarthritis pain when taken as a dietary supplement.
