a-chloralose
a compound with anesthetic properties but not used in clinical work because of the poor level of anesthesia induced, the prolonged recovery period and the inconvenience of having to prepare the solution, by mixing equal quantities of glucose and chloral hydrate, and heating, just before use. There are two isomers. Only the a-chloralose has anesthetic properties.
