Serum concentrations of interleukin-8 (IL-8), monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP) 1 (MCP-1) and monokine induced by IFN-[gamma] (MIG/CXCL9) are also elevated in both samples. We analyzed 50 [micro]l BALF/mouse to assess lavage cytokine concentrations for tumor necrosis factor-[alpha] (TNF-[alpha]), interleukin 1[beta] (IL-1[beta]), macrophage inflammatory protein 2 (MIP2), and cytokine-induced neutrophil chemoattractant (KC), using commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (R&D Systems, Wiesbaden, Germany). Collman's group has also observed that chemokines such as macrophage-inflammatory protein- 1[beta] (M1P- 1[beta]) and macrophage chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP1) are secreted by macrophages in response to gp120, and that secretion of these inflammatory factors is dependent on MAP kinase activation. |
