rofecoxib /ro·fe·cox·ib/ (ro″fĕ-cok´sib) a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug used in the treatment of osteoarthritis, acute pain, and dysmenorrhea.

A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that selectively inhibits the formation of prostaglandins and was formerly used to treat pain, especially in osteoarthritis.
