Sphaerirostris Golvan 1956 has been in a state of confusion due to its subgenus status to Centrorhynchus Luhe 1911.
Genus Sphaerirostris was erected by Golvan 1956 as a subgenus of Centrorhynchus Luhe 1911 and included 21 species with polydendritic lacunar system and having 3 or 4 tubular cement glands.
The recovered helminths were identified as 1 digenean trematode species, Neodiplostomum reflexum; 2 species of nematodes, Synhimantus species, and larvae of Porrocaecum species; and a single species of Acanthocephala, Centrorhynchus species.
