central venous oxygen saturation

central venous oxygen saturation (CVSO2),
the oxygen saturation in the vena cava. The CVSO2 is measured through a central venous catheter and is useful in measuring cardiac output. A reading of less than 55% usually indicates a falling cardiac output and probable cardiac failure.
