This celibate homosexual priest, more than forty years ordained and an admirer of James Martin, SJ, does not agree with his critical assessment of the recent Vatican Instruction on gay seminarians ("The Vatican & Gay Priests," January 13, 2006). It has declared that gayness itself is immoral, a psychological disorder that renders even celibate homosexuals moral lepers. Gay activists have also rallied around the Franciscan friar, reportedly a celibate homosexual, fueling controversy about the widely-proclaimed hero. |
