CASTLE
Carcinoma Showing Thymus-Like Differentiation. A rare tumour occurring in the anterior mediastium, soft tissues of the neck and thyroid that histologically resembles fetal, mature, or involuted thymus and mediastinal thymomas; it ranges from completely benign to malignant; CASTLE is similar to thymic carcinoma of the lymphoepithelioma or squamous cell variety, and is thought to arise either from ectopic thymus or remnants of branchial pouches which retain the potential to differentiate along the thymic lines; immunoreactive for CD5
