In 1992 Current Sociology, the journal of the International Sociological Association, published an issue devoted to the development and use of the case method in sociology (Hamel, 1992).
As a result of attending the "Enlivening Teaching: Using Discipline-Based Cases to Improve Learning and Teaching Conference" sponsored by Pace University's Center for Case Studies in Education in 2001, we were eager to pursue case method teaching and we now use cases in our classes as a result.
The case method is a powerful learning tool because it integrates all aspects of an issue or decision.
