Carum carvi parts used: ripe fruit (dried), seeds; uses: spasms in the digestive system, bloating, gas, dyspepsia, common cold, cough, anorexia, colic; precautions: pregnancy, patients with liver disease (oil); can cause diarrhea, burping, and irritation to eyes, oral cavity, and nose. Also called
kummel, kummelol, oleum cari, or
oleum carvi.
