carbinoxamine maleate [kär′bənok′səmēn] an antihistamine found in some fixed-combination cold and allergy medications. indications It is prescribed in the treatment of allergic reactions, including rhinitis, skin reactions, and itching. contraindications Asthma or known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. It should not be administered to infants or lactating mothers. adverse effects Among the more serious adverse reactions are tachycardia and other side effects of anticholinergic medications.
