canarypox a disease caused by a poxvirus in the genus Avipoxvirus; it spreads slowly amongst canaries, finches and some other passerines. Characteristic pox lesions occur on eyelids, skin of the head, beak commissures and sometimes on the oral and pharyngeal mucosae. There is blepharitis and pruritus of the eyelids.
