RAMP2

A gene on chromosome 17q12-q21.1 that encodes one of the RAMP (receptor [calcitonin] activity-modifying protein) family of single-transmembrane-domain proteins, which are type-I transmembrane proteins needed to transport calcitonin-receptor-like receptor (CRLR) to the plasma membrane. CRLR can function as either a calcitonin-gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor or an adrenomedullin receptor, depending on the expressed RAMP; in the presence of RAMP2, CRLR acts as an adrenomedullin-1 receptor.
