cajeput /caj·e·put/ (kaj´ĕ-poot) the tree Melaleuca. leucaden´dron, whose fresh leaves and twigs yield cajeput oil. cajeput (kaˑ·j n Latin name: Melaleuca leucadendron; part used: oil extracted from fresh twigs and leaves; uses: flavoring, stimulant, antiseptic, expectorant, anthelmintic; precautions: pregnancy, lactation, persons with hypersensitivity to tea tree plant.
