cajeput (kaˑ·j·pt),
n Latin name:
Melaleuca leucadendron; part used: oil extracted from fresh twigs and leaves; uses: flavoring, stimulant, antiseptic, expectorant, anthelmintic; precautions: pregnancy, lactation, persons with hypersensitivity to tea tree plant. May cause hypersensi-tivity reactions. Also called
cajuput, cajeputol, eucalyptol, swamp tea tree, white tea tree, and
cineol.
