cutis /cu·tis/ (ku´tis) the skin.
cutis anseri´na transitory elevation of the hair follicles due to contraction of the arrectores pilorum muscles; a reflection of sympathetic nerve discharge. cutis hyperelas´tica Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. cutis lax´a a group of connective tissue disorders, usually hereditary, in which the skin hangs in loose pendulous folds; believed to be associated with decreased elastic tissue formation and an abnormality in elastin formation. cutis rhomboida´lis nu´chae thickening of the skin of the neck with striking accentuation of its markings, giving an appearance of diamond-shaped plaques. cutis ver´ticis gyra´ta enlargement and thickening of the skin of the scalp, which lies in folds resembling gyri and sulci of the brain.
