A gene on chromosome 16p13.13 that encodes a C-type lectin domain protein primarily expressed in immune cells, including dendritic cells, B cells and natural killer cells.

Type-1 diabetes is associated with variations within a 233-kb linkage disequilibrium block on chromosome 16p13, which includes CLEC16A/KIAA0350.
