CDH7

CDH7

A gene on chromosome 18q22.1 that encodes a calcium-dependent cell–cell adhesion glycoprotein (cadherin), which is involved in regulating cell–cell adhesions, mobility and proliferation of epithelial cells. CDH7 is a so-called type-II (atypical) cadherin (which lacks a HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence specific to type-I cadherins). It is also a less preferred gene symbol for CDH19 (see there) and CDH20 (see there).

Data from animal models suggest that emigrating NCCs upregulate CDH7 (in birds), CDH6 (in mouse), and CDH11 (in mouse and Xenopus) (Kimura et al.
Four additional novel biomarkers were identified with increased serum concentration values in at least 10% of advanced prostate cancer samples compared to controls: CDH7, COL2A1, PGLS, and RPL22L1.
