In the new study, lead researcher Susan Swain and her colleagues showed that naive CD4 T cells from older mice survived longer than the corresponding cells from young mice when transplanted into normal intact hosts.
Phylogenetic studies demonstrate that plasma proviral sequences are similar to those found in resting CD4 T cells with the exception of the predominant plasma clone (PPC) referred to below [30-32].
A small frequency of CD4 T cells specific for subtype H5N1 was detected in several persons at baseline, and seasonal vaccine administration enhanced the frequency of such reactive CD4 T cells.
