CX3CR1

A gene on chromosome 3p21.3 that encodes a G protein-coupled receptor for fractalkine, a transmembrane protein and chemokine involved in leukocyte adhesion and migration. CX3CR1 is also a coreceptor for HIV-1; some alternatively spliced forms of CX3CR1 lead to increased susceptibility to HIV-1 infection and rapid progression to AIDS.
