Coronary Angioplasty Amlodipine Restenosis Study. A trial which evaluated the effect of a calcium-channel blocker on restenosis and outcome in patients undergoing percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTCA).

Primary endpoints
Death, MI, CABG, repeat PTCA within 4-months.
 
Conclusion
Amlodipine given 2 weeks pre-PTCA significantly reduces the need for repeat PTCA and composite major acute coronary events.

The recently published results from the CAPARES trial concluded that significantly fewer major adverse clinical events occurred in patients who underwent an angioplasty if Norvasc therapy was started before the procedure and continued for the four-month duration of the study.
