phenylbutazone /phen·yl·bu·ta·zone/ (-bu´tah-zon) a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug used in the short-term treatment of severe rheumatoid disorders unresponsive to less toxic agents.

A white or light yellow compound that is used as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug in the treatment of arthritis, bursitis, and gout.

phenylbutazone
a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug resembling cortisone in its action; used in the treatment of painful conditions of joints and skeletal muscles. It has powerful analgesic and antipyretic effects, but causes bone marrow suppression with high doses or prolonged administration.
