bunyavirus /bun·ya·vi·rus/ (bun´yah-vi″rus) any virus of the family Bunyaviridae.
Bunyavirus /Bun·ya·vi·rus/ (bun´yah-vi″rus) a genus of viruses of the family Bunyaviridae usually transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito; human pathogens cause febrile disease and encephalitis. Important pathogenic species include Bunyamwera, Bwamba, California encephalitis, Guama, Jamestown Canyon, LaCrosse, Oropouche, and Tahyna viruses.

Ngari virus, a reassortant bunyavirus with RNA segments from both a Bunyamwera serogroup virus and an unidentified member of the genus Orthobunyavirus, has recently been associated with epidemic hemorrhagic fever in Africa (9).
The only zoonotic arboviruses isolated from field material in the United Kingdom are the flavivirus Louping ill virus (LIV) (4) and the bunyavirus Uukuniemi virus (5).
Ramon Flick, also of the UTMB, is titled "Antisense Morpholino Oligomers Directed Against Bunyavirus Genome Segments Inhibit Replication and Proliferation.
