soap bubble
An adjective referring to a dilated, smooth-contoured cyst-like or ballooned, occasionally loculated space(s). See Physaliferous Bone radiology An expansile, often eccentric, vaguely trabeculated space with a thin, sclerotic, sharply defined margin, which is characteristic of an aneurysmal bone cyst; other bone lesions with SB-like expansions include giant cell tumor, osteosarcoma, solitary bone cyst, non-ossifying fibroma, fibrous dysplasia, metastatic CA, chondromyxoid fibroma, 'combined' stage of Paget's disease of bone, expansile mandibular lesions of cherubism, metastatic renal cell CA; a radiologic finding of multiple 'punched-out' lytic lesions of bone–eg, in myeloma, angiosarcoma, ameloblastoma are described as SB-like GI radiology A descriptor for the physaliferous air spaces seen in an abdominal plain film in gas-producing bacterial abscesses Neurology A descriptor for the LM appearance of Cryptococcus neoformans when stained with India ink, which is most prominent in the Virchow-Robin space.
