brodifacoum

brodifacoum
a second generation derivative of dicoumarol, used as an anticoagulant rodenticide. It is more potent, with longer lasting effects, than warfarin. Poisoning in dogs requires treatment with vitamin K1 for at least 3 weeks.

For example, if a consumer treated his or her home for rodents in 1990, we estimate that there is an 87% probability that the product contained brodifacoum, a 10% probability for warfarin, and a 3% probability for other, unspecified active ingredients.
Under the new rules, three chemicals - brodifacoum, bromodialone and difethialone - would be banned from household use, but would still be available for use by certified pesticide applicators.
The chemicals of concern - brodifacoum, bromadiolone, diphacinone and difethialone - have been in use for more than two decades.
