Bow·man's capsule (bmnz)
n.
A double-walled, cup-shaped structure around the glomerulus of each nephron of the vertebrate kidney. It serves as a filter to remove organic wastes, excess inorganic salts, and water. Also called malpighian capsule.

Bowman's capsule

Etymology: William Bowman, English anatomist, 1816-1892
the cup-shaped end of a renal tubule or nephron enclosing a glomerulus. With the glomerulus, it is the site of filtration in the kidney. Also called glomerular capsule.
Bowman's capsule
a two-layered cellular envelope enclosing the tuft of capillaries constituting the glomerulus of the kidney; called also glomerular capsule, malpighian capsule.
