Bowman's capsule The structure surrounding the glomerulus. With the glomerulus, it is the site of filtration in the kidney. Also called glomerular capsule. Bowman's capsule a two-layered cellular envelope enclosing the tuft of capillaries constituting the glomerulus of the kidney; called also glomerular capsule, malpighian capsule.
