Karel, a psychiatrist and neurophysiologist, and Berta Bobath, a physical therapist, developed the original neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) theory and intervention techniques to work with persons secondary to conditions such as cerebral palsy and cerebral vascular accident who have abnormal muscle tone.
