The disease is also characterized by the formation of a kerion (large, red watery lump on the scalp), formation of black dot ringworm, enlarged lymph glands or scaling in the scalp.
It occurs primarily in one of three different guises: gray patch ringworm, black dot ringworm and inflammatory ringworm.
