Asian carp, which include bighead carp and silver carp, are thought to have escaped from U. More worrisome still, says Chapman, is the fact that the silver carp, which can jump 15 feet in the air, and to a lesser extent, its cousin, the bighead carp, seem to do most of their leaping--either horizontally or vertically, and apparently at random--just behind boats. Manure added to ponds and grass carp feces both stimulate the growth of algae, which filter-feeding silver and bighead carp consume. |
