In Nanhsing, a village in central Taiwan, farmers chopped down a majority of betel nut trees and planted 390,000 deep-rooted trees after a powerful earthquake exposed the dangers posed by an eroding landscape.
Except there is no sea in Assam ( there is the Brahmaputra) and not as many coconut palms ( it's the betel nut trees there).
Penang received its name from the Pinang, or Betel Nut tree, once commonly found on the island.
