metoprolol /met·o·pro·lol/ (met?ah-pro´lol) a cardioselective ß used in the form of the succinate and tartrate salts in the treatment of hypertension, chronic angina pectoris, and myocardial infarction.
metoprolol
a cardioselective beta-blocker having a greater effect on ß1-adrenergic receptors of the heart than on ß2-adrenergic receptors of the bronchi and blood vessels. Used as the tartrate.
