Bernoulli principle

Bernoulli principle
a principle which relates to the flow of fluids through tubes: the total hydraulic energy of fluid moving along a tube is constant so that if the tube dilates and causes the velocity to decrease, the kinetic energy involved in moving the fluid is reduced resulting in an increase in the lateral pressure on the vessel wall. This accounts for the tendency for aneurysms to enlarge and for vessels to dilate below a constriction.
