benzodiazepine /ben·zo·di·az·e·pine/ (ben″zo-di-az´ĕ-pēn) any of a group of compounds having a common molecular structure and similar pharmacological activities, including antianxiety, muscle relaxing, and sedative and hypnotic effects.
