For some bread and candy, a bami is cassava bread; a Janny kake is traditional fried bread which is usually offered for breakfast; strech-mi-gots are traditional taffies, and a tablayta is a coconut candy. A long historical association with the Far East means that favourites such as Nasi Goreng, Bami Goreng and spring rolls are as commonplace as the "traditional" Dutch meal based on meat, potatoes and vegetables. Other "Top 10" fare, Spaghetti Bolognese and Indonesian Bami Goreng, further noted the ethnic trend. |
